Join America by Bicycle as we tour New England in the spectacular brilliance of the fall season. The seasonal beauty of Fall meets the coast of Maine as you'll cycle the Atlantic Coast from Portland to Old Orchard Beach. Passing through many small coastal fishing villages, you're sure to stop in for a lobster roll. From Old Orchard Beach, we'll continue down the beautiful New England coast into Portsmouth, New Hampshire. This city is full of history. You'll have plenty of time to explore Strawberry Banke, an original 18th century village. From Portsmouth, we'll spend one more day cycling down the Atlantic seaboard to Amesbury, Massachusetts. We pass through beautiful seaside communities in the fall season. You will not want to miss visiting the port community of Newburyport. Watch as you'll see lobster fishermen pulling their traps. And the local mariners hauling their boats for the season. Our path next takes us west, inland through the countryside. We'll wander through the back streets and roads of Massachusetts and into New Hampshire again, ultimately staying in Salem, New Hampshire for the evening. We'll continue our adventure north to Manchester. You'll see many "Norman Rockwell" communities with the classic town square and white spire churches, not to mention the friendly New England folk. Crossing the backwoods of New Hampshire, you'll spin into Maine. You will see spectacular foliage throughout the tour. Before long we're back where we started in Portland. The season and the area are fantastic. You will remember this ride!
