The Blue Ridge Parkway Ride
Join us as we tour the Blue Ridge Parkway and Shenandoah Valley for 14 days and 723 miles.You will begin in Roanoke, Virginia and ride to Cherokee, North Carolina! Get ready for a wild ride! The Blue Ridge Parkway Bicycle Tour is a tremendous adventure that will take cyclists on a real world tour of the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Shenandoah Valley. This ride provides access to some of the best cycling to be found anywhere. This two week adventure will offer terrain that ranges from rolling farmland with minimal vehicular traffic to beautiful vistas along the Blue Ridge and Allegheny Mountains. You'll meander along historic areas where life is much simpler than the hustle and bustle of the city. You'll peek into the past as you pedal by historic buildings, converse with the locals and just soak in the mountain lifestyle. The sights will vary from farmlands and country life, to the great valley areas, to the omnipresent mountains with their beautiful vistas. Although the distances on most days will be modest enough to allow for some sightseeing, some days the terrain will be very challenging. You'll encounter long steep climbs including the toughest climb this side of the Mississippi River. Then get ready for some exhilarating descents as you roll off the Blue Ridge Parkway to the local towns and overnight accommodations. The scenery is outstanding. This is a challenging ride, you will need to train and have proper gearing to ensure your comfort level on this adventure. This tour will not just feature cycling on the Blue Ridge Parkway but will give you a tremendous overview of the Allegheny Mountains and Shenandoah Valley. You will really get to see this part of the country completely, in the best possible way, on the seat of your bicycle. In order to offer the most comfortable accommodations and optimal time on the bicycle to explore the area and sample the local fare at numerous sites along the way; America by Bicycle offers double room occupancy accommodations and no organized evening meals daily. For folks who cannot take the time to ride the entire two weeks, America by Bicycle offers Two 1 week options:
